Overview

Nano Banana Photoshop Script is a plugin that integrates the Nano Banana AI image model directly into Adobe Photoshop. Instead of switching between a browser and your editor, designers can trigger generations, edits, and variations from inside Photoshop using selected layers, masks, or prompts. The script is aimed at retouchers, concept artists, and product designers who want AI-assisted fills, background replacements, and style transfers without breaking their existing layer-based workflow. Generated results come back as new layers, keeping the original artwork non-destructive and easy to refine. Setup typically involves installing the script file, providing an API key, and configuring output preferences. Once configured, prompts can be run against active selections or entire canvases.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: selection and mask-aware editing and useful for iterating on concept variations. Where it lags: requires API key and external service. On balance the feature set — especially configurable API and output settings — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on batch variation generation, and non-destructive output as new layers caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and speeds up background and fill tasks. Layer output for non-destructive editing fits neatly into how we already work, and compatible with standard Photoshop versions removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is compatible with standard Photoshop versions — handled better than most — and speeds up background and fill tasks. Worth the time if this is your use case.
