Overview

FacesearchAI is a facial recognition search tool that lets users upload a photo and locate other online appearances of the same person across public images and video content. It is designed to help with tasks like verifying identities, tracking down the source of a photo, or finding additional pictures of a known individual. The service uses facial feature matching rather than relying on file names or metadata, so it can surface results even when images have been renamed or lightly edited. Results typically include thumbnails and links to the pages where matches were found, giving users a starting point for further research.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and works across images and video sources. Video frame matching fits neatly into how we already work, and similarity-ranked results removed a step we used to do by hand. Accuracy varies with image quality, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is similarity-ranked results — handled better than most — and fast reverse search by face. Accuracy varies with image quality is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: link-back to source pages and useful for identity verification and source tracing. Where it lags: potential for misuse if unregulated. On balance the feature set — especially link-back to source pages — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Q&A

Is reverse face search legal?

Searching publicly available images is lawful in most places, and Face Search AI only indexes the public web. Biometric-privacy laws differ by region, so the service is unavailable where it can't operate compliantly. We geofence rather than cut corners.

Asked by Xander de Vries · Jul 9, 2026

Will the person know I searched for them?

No. Searches query our index, not the source websites, so nothing touches the other person’s accounts and no notification exists to send. Your search history is private to you and deletable at any time.

Asked by Priya Nair · Jul 2, 2026

How accurate is it?

On clear, front-facing photos, strong matches (90+ confidence) are correct the overwhelming majority of the time. Accuracy drops with heavy blur, extreme angles, or very low resolution, which is why every match carries a confidence score instead of a flat yes.

Asked by Ines Fernandes · Jun 24, 2026

What do you do with the photo I upload?

It’s converted to a numeric code, compared against the index, and deleted when the search ends. Uploads are never stored, never added to the index, never used to train models, and never visible to staff.

Asked by Kwesi Boateng · Jun 20, 2026

Can I remove my own face from results?

Yes. Free, permanent, and available to everyone whether or not you have an account. Verify that the face is yours, and matching results are suppressed across all plans, including paid ones.
