Overview

AI 3D Model Generator combines two leading generative 3D backends, Tencent's Hunyuan3D and ByteDance's Seed3D, into a single workflow for creating 3D assets. Users can start from a text description or a reference image and receive a textured mesh suitable for use in games, AR/VR, product visualization, or 3D printing pipelines. The tool is aimed at creators who want to skip much of the manual modeling process, from indie game developers prototyping characters and props to designers iterating on concepts. By exposing both models, it lets users compare outputs and pick the generator that better fits their style, geometry, or texture needs for a given task.

Key features

  • Text-to-3D model generation
  • Image-to-3D reconstruction
  • Hunyuan3D backend support
  • Seed3D backend support
  • Textured mesh output
  • Asset export for game and design workflows

Use cases

Prototype Game Characters and Props

Indie game developers can quickly generate textured 3D characters and props from text prompts or concept art to populate prototypes without manual modeling.

Concept Iteration for Product Design

Designers can turn reference images or descriptions into 3D meshes to rapidly explore variations and visualize product concepts before committing to detailed modeling.

AR/VR Asset Creation

Build textured 3D assets for AR/VR scenes by generating models from prompts, then exporting them into immersive experience pipelines.

3D Printing Source Models

Generate base meshes from images or text descriptions as starting points for 3D printing projects, reducing the time spent on initial sculpting.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Two strong 3D backends in one interface
  • Supports both text-to-3D and image-to-3D
  • Outputs textured meshes ready for downstream tools
  • Useful for rapid prototyping and concept iteration

Cons

  • Quality varies by prompt and reference image
  • May still require cleanup for production use
  • Complex or highly detailed assets can be hit or miss
  • Dependent on third-party model availability

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Hunyuan3D backend support just works and supports both text-to-3D and image-to-3D. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: seed3D backend support and useful for rapid prototyping and concept iteration. On balance the feature set — especially text-to-3D model generation — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is text-to-3D model generation — handled better than most — and outputs textured meshes ready for downstream tools. Quality varies by prompt and reference image is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Asset export for game and design workflows is exactly what I needed, and useful for rapid prototyping and concept iteration. but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on hunyuan3D backend support, and outputs textured meshes ready for downstream tools caught me off guard. Complex or highly detailed assets can be hit or miss is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and supports both text-to-3D and image-to-3D. Seed3D backend support fits neatly into how we already work, and asset export for game and design workflows removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Q&A

What is an AI 3D model generator?

An AI 3D model generator uses deep learning to create fully textured 3D models from a single image or text description. Unlike traditional 3D modeling software that requires manual topology and UV unwrapping, AI tools like Hunyuan 3D and Seed3D produce GLB files with complete PBR material maps in seconds. The output works directly in Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, and Three.js without additional baking or conversion.

How do I convert an image to a 3D model using AI?

To convert an image to a 3D model with AI: upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP photo of your object using AI 3D’s image-to-3D mode, select either Hunyuan 3D or Seed3D as your generation model, then click generate. The AI analyzes your image, reconstructs the geometry, and synthesizes PBR textures automatically. Download the result as a GLB file for immediate use in any 3D software or web viewer. For best results, use a photo with a clear subject, good lighting, and a plain or white background.

Asked by Yosef Mizrahi · Aug 20, 2025

Can I generate a 3D model from text with AI?

Yes. AI 3D’s text-to-3D mode lets you describe any object in natural language and generate a fully textured 3D model. Type a prompt like “a weathered wooden treasure chest with iron fittings” or “a futuristic sci-fi helmet” and both Hunyuan 3D and Seed3D can generate a complete GLB with PBR materials. Text-to-3D works best for stylized objects, props, and concepts where you don’t have a reference photo.

Asked by Margaret Whitfield · Aug 11, 2025

What 3D file formats does AI 3D export?

AI 3D exports models generated by Seed3D in GLB, USDZ, OBJ, FBX, and URDF formats. GLB is the recommended format for web3D viewers, Three.js, and AR/VR applications. USDZ opens directly in iOS AR Quick Look without any conversion. OBJ and FBX import cleanly into Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Unity, and Unreal Engine. Hunyuan 3D outputs GLB and OBJ with full PBR material maps.

Asked by Miriam Cohen · Aug 7, 2025

Can I use AI-generated 3D models in Blender, Unity, or Unreal Engine?

Yes. Both Hunyuan 3D and Seed3D output standard GLB and OBJ files that import directly into Blender, Unity, and Unreal Engine without conversion. The included PBR material maps — Albedo, Normal, Roughness, Metallic — are recognized natively by all three applications. GLB files can also be embedded in Three.js scenes and WebXR apps without modification.
