Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on the integrations, and it is genuinely easy to set up caught me off guard. The docs could be deeper is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Pretty happy overall. The dashboard just works and it is genuinely easy to set up. Pricing gets steep at scale can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: the dashboard and it is genuinely easy to set up. On balance the feature set — especially the dashboard — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

openpilot Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is not a system that allows careless or inattentive driving. The driver must pay close attention to the vehicle’s surroundings and be ready to re‑take control of the gas and brake at all times. Factors that can affect ACC performance include poor visibility, obstructed camera or radar, incorrect device mounting, approaching toll booths, pedestrians or cyclists, traffic signs or stop lights not detected by openpilot, speed limits below the set speed, stationary vehicles in the lane, abrupt braking, limited acceleration/deceleration, close cut‑ins, hills, narrow or winding roads, extreme temperatures, bright light, and ultrasonic interference. This list is not exhaustive; the driver remains responsible for vehicle control.

openpilot Driver Monitoring (DM) should not be considered an exact measurement of driver alertness. Factors that can impact DM performance include low‑light conditions, bright light, the driver’s face being partially or completely outside the camera’s field of view, or a obstructed or damaged camera. What are the limitations of openpilot Automated Lane Centering?

openpilot Automated Lane Centering (ALC) system does not automatically drive the vehicle or reduce the amount of attention that must be paid to the area in front of the vehicle. The driver must always keep control of the steering wheel and be ready to correct the ALC system action at all times. Many factors can impact the performance of openpilot ALC, including poor visibility, obstructed camera, incorrect device mounting, sharp curves, restricted lanes, construction zones, strong cross‑wind, extreme temperatures, bright light, hills, narrow or winding roads, and more. The list is not exhaustive; it is the driver's responsibility to be in control of the vehicle at all times.
