Is the NWC MCP Server still actively maintained?

No. The repository was archived on June 20 2025 and is now read‑only. Users are encouraged to migrate to the newer Alby MCP server, which includes the same functionality plus additional Lightning tools.

How do I authenticate the server when using the HTTP/SSE transports?

Both HTTP and SSE transports require Bearer authentication. Supply your Nostr Wallet Connect secret (a string starting with `nostr walletconnect://`) as the Bearer token in the request headers.

What runtimes does the NWC MCP Server support and how do I start it?

The server can run in two modes: STDIO (command‑line) and HTTP. For STDIO, invoke it via `npx @getalby/nwc-mcp-server`. For HTTP, start the same command and it will expose Streamable HTTP and Server‑Sent Events (SSE) endpoints; you can then connect using the provided URLs.
