What limitation should I be aware of regarding task identifiers?

The server currently uses TaskWarrior’s numeric task IDs, which are unstable and can change when tasks are added or removed; future versions aim to switch to stable UUIDs.

Can I filter tasks by project or tags via the API?

Yes. The get_next_tasks endpoint accepts optional project and tags parameters, letting you retrieve pending tasks that match a specific project name or one or more tags.

How can I integrate the MCP server with Claude Desktop?

Add the server to your claude_desktop_config.json under mcpServers with the command npx and args ["-y", "mcp", "server", "taskwarrior"]. Claude Desktop will then be able to call the TaskWarrior MCP endpoints.

Do I need to install anything besides the MCP server to use it?

Yes. The server runs the local TaskWarrior binary, so you must have TaskWarrior installed and configured on the same machine where the MCP server runs.
