Skeptical, then convinced
I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on public web crawling for photo matches, and fast and accurate face-based image search caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and fast and accurate face-based image search. Email alerts for new appearances fits neatly into how we already work, and multiple subscription tiers removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

Compared a few options
Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: opt-out request system and alerts notify users of new matches. Where it lags: raises privacy and misuse concerns. On balance the feature set — especially public web crawling for photo matches — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Years in this space
I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is reverse image search by face — handled better than most — and alerts notify users of new matches. Worth the time if this is your use case.
Q&A
Is PimEyes safe to use?
PimEyes is designed with a strong focus on privacy and data protection, and implements technical and organizational measures to safeguard user data. PimEyes does not identify individuals or verify identities, and it operates only on publicly available content that is allowed to be indexed. Users also have control over their data, including the ability to request deletion (opt-out) or manage how their information is processed. PimEyes follows legal requirements to provide a secure and privacy-conscious environment for its users.

What if I do not want PimEyes to share my personal data with external websites?
PimEyes does not share your personal data with external websites by default. Your data is only shared with third parties when it is necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested, such as submitting a takedown request. In such cases, your identification information may be required for legal notices like DMCA or GDPR requests. If you prefer, you can also send simple takedown notices without providing your personal data, but please note that such requests may not carry legal weight and could be less effective. Outside of these situations, PimEyes does not sell or distribute your personal data, and any data sharing is limited to trusted service providers involved in operating the platform, under strict confidentiality and data protection agreements. You remain in control of your data and can choose whether or not to use services that involve sharing it.

What is the difference between free and paid searches?
Free searches allow you to see that matches exist, but access to the source links is limited. You can unlock and view the full results, including the exact URLs and websites where the images appear. This allows you to access the source content and take further actions if needed.
Asked by Greta Nowak · Mar 18, 2026
Am I guaranteed to find my images in search results?
PimEyes does not guarantee that all images of you will be found. Search results depend on images that are publicly available. Additionally, results may vary based on factors such such as image quality, angle, lighting, and how closely the uploaded photo matches indexed content. While PimEyes aims to provide accurate and helpful results, the availability and consistency of matches cannot be guaranteed.
Asked by Idris Suleiman · Mar 16, 2026
Why are some results no longer available when I open them?
PimEyes provides links to images that are hosted on external websites, and does not control or manage the content on those sites. If a result is no longer available, it may be because the image or page has been removed, modified, or restricted by the source website. Additionally, PimEyes displays images using a temporary, secure process, and such images are not stored permanently. As a result, the availability of any result depends entirely on the external source, and PimEyes cannot guarantee continued access to that content.
