Q&A
What features does BoltMCP provide once installed?
Once deployed, BoltMCP acts as an MCP server on your Kubernetes cluster, supporting MCP (Machine Configuration Protocol) operations. The installation package includes a single Helm chart for easy deployment, and the integration with Claude allows for guided setup and management of the server.
Asked by Hasan Demir · Jun 18, 2026
Can I install BoltMCP without using Claude?
Yes. If you prefer not to use Claude, you can perform a manual installation by following the instructions at https://install.boltmcp.io. This process involves the same basic steps—cloning the repo, placing the access key, and applying the Helm chart—but without the guided Claude interface.
Asked by Uma Krishnan · Jun 1, 2026
What is required before installing BoltMCP?
BoltMCP requires that you have Claude Code installed and authenticated (claude auth login). You also need a BoltMCP access key file which you must move to the bolts keys directory before running the installation. Without these prerequisites the Helm chart or manual install will not complete.

How do I install BoltMCP on a Kubernetes cluster?
You can install BoltMCP in two ways. The simplest method is to use the single Helm chart: first install Claude Code and login, then clone the BoltMCP repo, place your access key in the keys directory, run Claude from within the repo and invoke the /install boltmcp skill which guides you through the Helm chart deployment. Alternatively, visit https://install.boltmcp.io for step‑by‑step manual installation instructions.
