Q&A
Can I use Mem9 Setup if the Mem9 API is down?
If the API call to provision a tenant fails, the script will notify you that the API might be down and ask you to try again later; the rest of the setup will not complete until a tenant ID is successfully obtained.
Asked by Zara Ahmed · May 9, 2026
How do I verify that Mem9 memory is enabled after setup?
After restarting Claude Code, simply ask Claude to "remember" something; if the memory is active, it will acknowledge that it can retain information across sessions.
Asked by Mireille Dupont · May 11, 2026
What permissions are required to run Mem9 Setup?
The skill needs Bash access plus Read and Write permissions on your system to modify ~/.claude/settings.json and execute the CLI commands for installing the Mem9 plugin.
Asked by Malik Rasheed · Apr 18, 2026
What does Mem9 Setup automate for my Claude AI instance?
Mem9 Setup automatically provisions a Mem9 tenant, writes the tenant ID to your ~/.claude/settings.json, installs the Mem9 plugin via the Claude CLI, and confirms the setup, so you only need to restart Claude Code to activate persistent memory.
