Overview

May Mobility is a developer of autonomous vehicle technology offering driverless microtransit services. Its flagship technology, Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM), is a real-time, reinforcement-learning AI algorithm that enables vehicles to learn and react to new situations and driving scenarios. This technology amplifies the system's ability to safely handle the unexpected and allows for the deployment of AVs at a fraction of the cost and time. May Mobility has already demonstrated its capabilities in various locations, including rural Minnesota, Atlanta suburbs, and Tokyo Bay. The company's autonomous service is live on Lyft, and it has partnered with major players like Uber and Lyft to expand its robotaxi operations. May Mobility's technology has been recognized as one of the most innovative in the world, and it continues to push the boundaries of autonomous driving. With MPDM, May Mobility's vehicles can choose the most applicable next step and drive safely in each and every situation, regardless of how unique it may be. This technology has the potential to bring more reliable, safe, and efficient autonomous transportation to more people, faster. May Mobility is expanding its AV technology into Southeast Asia with a partnership with Grab and has been recognized on Fast Company's 2026 list of the World's Most Innovative Companies. The company aims to revolutionize the future of autonomous driving and make it a reality today.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. The core workflow just works and it saves real time. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: the automation and it is genuinely easy to set up. On balance the feature set — especially the core workflow — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on the core workflow, and support is responsive caught me off guard. Pricing gets steep at scale is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Q&A

How does May Mobility integrate with existing ride‑hailing platforms like Lyft and Uber?

May Mobility’s autonomous fleet is integrated directly into Lyft’s app, allowing riders to request a driverless microtransit ride just like a traditional Lyft ride. Similar collaborations with Uber enable the company to deploy its AVs within Uber’s network, leveraging existing user bases and dispatch systems.

Asked by Mustafa Yilmaz · Nov 6, 2025

Where is May Mobility’s driverless microtransit service currently available?

The service has been demonstrated in several locations, including rural Minnesota, the Atlanta suburbs, and Tokyo Bay, and is live on Lyft’s platform. Expansion continues through partnerships with Uber, Lyft, and other operators.

Asked by Victor Nguyen · Oct 15, 2025

What is May Mobility’s Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) algorithm and how does it improve autonomous driving?

MPDM is a real‑time, reinforcement‑learning AI algorithm that runs on‑board simulations, allowing the vehicle to learn from and react to new driving situations instantly. This enables safer handling of unexpected events and reduces the cost and time needed to deploy autonomous vehicles compared to traditional approaches.
