Overview

Grok Automation is a browser extension designed for users of Grok.com, an AI tool for image and video generation. It enables batch processing of prompts, allowing users to submit hundreds of requests at once and automatically download the results. The extension supports all five generation modes offered by Grok: Text-to-Image, Text-to-Video, Frame-to-Video, Ingredients-to-Video, and Image-to-Image. It also features auto-upscaling, auto-downloads, and organization of outputs into project folders. The tool is aimed at creators who frequently use Grok.com for generating content, as it can save them around four hours per batch by automating the submission and download process. It offers six concurrent prompts, smart delays to prevent rate limit issues, and a real-time queue monitor. The extension is available in six languages and receives updates every few weeks. Grok Automation works in three steps: users paste their prompts into the extension, select a generation mode and aspect ratio, and then let the extension handle the submission, retries, downloads, and organization of the results. The extension operates locally within the user's browser, ensuring that prompts and outputs remain on the user's machine without any server upload or telemetry. It's worth noting that Grok Automation is an independent extension, not affiliated with xAI Corp., the company behind Grok. This means it doesn't have direct access to user accounts and operates as a separate entity to enhance the functionality of Grok.com.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: bulk prompt queueing and processes hundreds of prompts in one batch. On balance the feature set — especially automated video generation — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Automated image generation just works and useful for high-volume creative workflows. Dependent on Grok's rate limits and availability can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Q&A

How is Grok Automation different from Grok Tasks?

Grok Tasks is xAI's built-in feature for scheduling a Grok chat task on a trigger or timer — perfect for 'summarize my email every morning' workflows. Grok Automation does something different: it batches image and video generation on the grok.com UI itself, queuing hundreds of prompts in parallel. Tasks are scheduled chat jobs; Grok Automation is parallelized creation. Most creators use both.

Asked by Gabriel Duarte · Nov 30, 2025

What happens when Grok rate-limits me mid-batch?

Most automation tools just crash and lose everything. Grok Automation detects the rate-limit signal, pauses the queue, persists your progress to local storage, and resumes the moment your quota returns. Close the tab — your queue is waiting when you come back.

Asked by Bianca Ferreira · Nov 29, 2025

What data does the extension see?

Only what you'd see in the Grok tab yourself — the prompts you queue and the responses you generate. Nothing leaves your browser. Grok Automation keeps your prompt history, generated outputs, and folder layout on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Asked by Renata Silva · Nov 6, 2025

Does Grok Automation work with Grok 4, Grok Heavy, and Grok Imagine?

Yes. Grok Automation drives whatever model and feature is available in your grok.com session — Grok 4 for prompting, Grok Heavy when your account has it, and Grok Imagine for image and video generation. The extension reads from your existing session, so your account tier determines throughput. The Smart Delay System adapts automatically: Super Grok and Heavy accounts naturally run more in parallel.

Asked by Jana Krejčí · Oct 29, 2025

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome today. Edge support is on the roadmap. Since the extension uses standard Chromium APIs, it generally also works on Brave, Arc, and Vivaldi — though we don't formally support those yet.
