Overview

/dev/agents is a startup developing a cloud-based operating system designed specifically for AI agents. Rather than retrofitting existing platforms, the team is rethinking the underlying infrastructure so that autonomous software agents can run, coordinate, and interact with users and services more naturally. The project is led by veterans of consumer and developer platforms, with a focus on giving builders the primitives they need to ship agent-driven applications. The goal is to lower the barrier to creating useful agents while addressing the runtime, identity, and UX challenges that come with them. As an early-stage effort, /dev/agents is positioned as foundational infrastructure rather than a finished product, aimed at developers who want to help define how AI agents are built and deployed.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on infrastructure for agent coordination, and purpose-built infrastructure for AI agents caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Agent-to-user interaction layer just works and founded by experienced platform builders. Unproven in production at scale can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is cloud OS designed for AI agents — handled better than most — and purpose-built infrastructure for AI agents. Unproven in production at scale is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Q&A

How does it lower the barrier to creating agent‑driven apps?

By rethinking underlying infrastructure rather than retrofitting, it supplies a dedicated runtime and UX layer that handles identity, coordination, and natural interactions, reducing complexity for builders.

Asked by Paloma Ruiz · Mar 28, 2026

What kind of integration support does the platform have?

The focus is on developer experience, offering built‑in tools for agent coordination and interaction, but specific third‑party integrations are not detailed yet.

Asked by Ulrik Madsen · Feb 16, 2026

Is /dev/agents ready for production use?

It is an early‑stage foundation still in development, so it may not yet be proven at large scale or broadly available for production deployments.

Asked by Henrik Dahl · Dec 31, 2025

What does /dev/agents offer for developers building AI agents?

It provides a cloud-based operating system with primitives for runtime, identity, and user interaction, allowing agents to run, coordinate, and communicate seamlessly.
