Overview

Airwallex is a global financial platform that helps businesses move, manage, and scale money across borders. It combines multi-currency accounts, international payments, card issuing, expense management, and treasury tools into a single system designed for modern, internet-first companies. Through its APIs and embedded finance offerings, companies can also build payments, payouts, and financial products directly into their own apps and customer experiences. Airwallex is typically used by SMBs, marketplaces, e-commerce sellers, SaaS firms, and global enterprises that need to operate in multiple currencies and jurisdictions without stitching together separate banking, payments, and spend tools.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Cross-border payments and payouts just works and aI assists with spend and risk workflows. Onboarding and compliance checks can be lengthy can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is corporate cards and expense management — handled better than most — and strong API and embedded finance options. Pricing can be complex for smaller businesses is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on cross-border payments and payouts, and unified global payments and treasury stack caught me off guard. Pricing can be complex for smaller businesses is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
