Use it every day
Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Plugin system for platform and chain integrations is exactly what I needed, and flexible character and personality configuration. I do wish documentation can lag behind rapid changes, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.
Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and supports multiple platforms and chains. Character files for defining agent behavior fits neatly into how we already work, and built-in connectors for Discord, X, and Telegram removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.
Compared a few options
Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: plugin system for platform and chain integrations and strong community around crypto-AI use cases. On balance the feature set — especially multi-agent runtime with persistent memory — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Does the job
Pretty happy overall. On-chain action and wallet support just works and open source and actively developed. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Q&A
How does the open‑source nature of AI16z affect support and documentation?
Being community‑driven, updates happen quickly and documentation may lag behind new features. However, active community forums and GitHub issues provide support, and the modular TypeScript codebase lets developers extend or customize functionality as needed.

What types of use cases is AI16z best suited for?
It excels in crypto‑native scenarios such as automated market making, decentralized governance participation, on‑chain analytics, and social media bots that coordinate across X, Discord, and Telegram. The multi‑agent runtime also supports collaborative workflows where agents maintain persistent identities and memory.
Asked by Quyen Tran · Aug 10, 2025
Can AI16z agents interact with multiple blockchains and DeFi protocols?
Yes, the plugin system allows agents to integrate with various blockchain networks and DeFi tools. On‑chain action and wallet support are built‑in, enabling agents to perform transactions and interact with smart contracts across supported chains.

What is required to set up AI16z (ElizaOS) for my own autonomous agents?
AI16z is an open‑source TypeScript framework, so you need a Node.js environment, Git access to the repo, and some coding expertise to define character files and install any desired plugins. You’ll also need to configure blockchain and social platform connectors (e.g., X, Discord, Telegram).
