Overview

AgentCard issues single-use virtual Visa cards designed specifically for AI agents that need to transact online. Instead of exposing a primary payment method, developers can provision a fresh card per task, capping spend and limiting exposure if an agent misbehaves or a merchant is untrustworthy. The service targets builders of autonomous workflows—shopping bots, research agents, subscription managers, and procurement assistants—who need programmatic access to real-world payments. Each card is scoped to a transaction, making spend traceable and easier to reconcile across many agent runs.

Key features

  • Single-use virtual Visa card generation
  • Programmatic API for agent workflows
  • Configurable spend limits per card
  • Transaction-level tracking and logs
  • Designed for autonomous AI agents
  • Reduced exposure of primary funding sources

Use cases

Safe Autonomous Shopping Agents

Provision a fresh single-use Visa card per purchase so shopping bots can buy items online without exposing a primary payment method, with spend capped to the task budget.

Research Agent Paywalls and APIs

Issue scoped cards to research agents that need to pay for one-off reports, datasets, or metered API access, keeping each charge traceable to a specific run.

Procurement Assistant Spend Control

Give procurement agents per-transaction cards with configurable limits, reducing financial risk if the agent misbehaves or a merchant turns out to be untrustworthy.

Reconciling Multi-Agent Workflows

Use transaction-level logs and per-card attribution to reconcile charges across many agent runs, making it easy to audit which agent task triggered which payment.

Pros & Cons

  • Per-card spend caps improve agent safety
  • Clear attribution of charges to specific agent tasks

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is designed for autonomous AI agents — handled better than most — and limits financial risk with one-time-use cards. Newer service with evolving feature set is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: single-use virtual Visa card generation and per-card spend caps improve agent safety. On balance the feature set — especially transaction-level tracking and logs — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Reduced exposure of primary funding sources is exactly what I needed, and limits financial risk with one-time-use cards. I do wish limited to Visa acceptance networks, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Programmatic API for agent workflows just works and works wherever Visa is accepted. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
