Compared a few options
Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: password-protected app and site blocking and helps enforce self-imposed limits. Where it lags: strict design may frustrate some users. On balance the feature set — especially screen time scheduling — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.
Years in this space
I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is password-protected app and site blocking — handled better than most — and simple, focused purpose. Worth the time if this is your use case.
Use it every day
Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Focus enforcement for distracting apps is exactly what I needed, and useful for breaking compulsive app habits. I do wish strict design may frustrate some users, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.
Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and simple, focused purpose. Screen time scheduling fits neatly into how we already work, and customizable block lists removed a step we used to do by hand. Effectiveness depends on initial setup discipline, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Q&A
Are passwords secured / encrypted?
Yes, stored passwords are encrypted using standard cryptography libraries built on AES-128.
Asked by Kenji Watanabe · Apr 22, 2026
What if I'm hesitant to leave my passwords with someone else, whether a friend or your software?
Our offline retrieval lets you save an encrypted file to your computer so you can access your passwords directly from your device, without being able to bypass the tedious retrieval process.

Doesn't iOS Screen Time have workarounds?
Password Locker as a supplement to iOS Screen Time can thwart any of its workarounds, as described here. If you find a workaround that lets you access undesired apps or websites and we can't resolve it, we'll pay you $20.
Asked by Yuki Kobayashi · Apr 1, 2026
Why do you supplement iOS Screen Time instead of being a standalone blocker?
Third-party blockers will inherently have workarounds because they are non-native to the device. iOS Screen Time circumvents such issues.
Asked by Salome Beridze · Mar 15, 2026
Is it free?
It's free for 30 days, then you specify how much to pay, even if that's $0. We don't want price preventing anyone from achieving quality productivity.
