Compared a few options
Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: aI-based markerless body tracking and fast workflow for previs and indie projects. Where it lags: struggles with occlusion and fast motion. On balance the feature set — especially integration with Rokoko Studio — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.
Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and fast workflow for previs and indie projects. Export to FBX and BVH formats fits neatly into how we already work, and export to FBX and BVH formats removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.
Solid for our team
We rolled this out across the team last quarter and integrates with major 3D and game engines. Real-time preview in browser fits neatly into how we already work, and single or dual webcam capture removed a step we used to do by hand. Requires good lighting and camera placement, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.
Does the job
Pretty happy overall. Real-time preview in browser just works and free single-camera tier available. Less accurate than suit-based mocap can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
Years in this space
I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is live streaming to Blender, Unreal, and Unity — handled better than most — and fast workflow for previs and indie projects. Worth the time if this is your use case.
Skeptical, then convinced
I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on aI-based markerless body tracking, and free single-camera tier available caught me off guard. Requires good lighting and camera placement is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
Perguntas e respostas
How does Vision 3.0 compare to competitors?
At the same monthly price, Rokoko gives you significantly more motion processing than competing tools. At $10/month, Rokoko Basic includes roughly four times the processing of QuickMagic and seven times Uthana. The value gap widens at higher tiers. Beyond raw volume, Vision 3.0 is part of Rokoko Create, which also includes Text-to-Motion, motion editing in Rokoko Studio, and storage - you're not paying for a single feature, you're getting a full motion creation platform.

What file formats does Vision 3.0 export, and which 3D software does it support?
You can export your motion data as .FBX or .BVH files from Rokoko Studio, compatible with all major skeletons including UE5 Manny, HIK and Mixamo. These files work directly in Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, Cinema 4D, Maya, Houdini, MotionBuilder, and iClone.

Does Rokoko Vision 3.0 support finger tracking?
Not at launch. Finger tracking wasn't a frequently requested feature among Vision users, so the focus for 3.0 was motion quality, processing speed, and workflow simplicity. If the community wants finger tracking, it's something we can explore in a future update. For finger capture today, the Smartgloves II remain the most accurate solution in the Rokoko ecosystem.

What happened to webcam recording and dual-camera capture?
Both have been removed. For webcam live capture: more than 90% of Vision users were already recording their footage separately and uploading it as a video file, taking time to check framing, lighting, and performance before processing. Recording first produced better results, so we built around that workflow instead. The dual-camera feature is sunset approximately 30 days after the Vision 3.0 launch as the setup is still quite cumbersome, and the data quality of the new monocular solver is actually better than the dual-cam solution. Going forward, all AI motion capture in the Rokoko ecosystem happens through video upload inside Rokoko Create.

Why buy mocap tools, like the Smartsuit and Smartgloves, if I can use Rokoko Vision?
Rokoko Vision is a great entry point in the world of motion capture, as well as a handy tool for pre-visualisation. Even though its ease of use, low price point and data quality are very appealing, there will still be many situations where robust mocap tools like the Smartsuit Pro II, Smartgloves II and Face Capture are needed: 1. Data quality: especially for more complex motions, inertial mocap tools like the Smartsuit Pro II provide higher fidelity capture. 2. Occlusion: Vision AI relies on a complete view of the performer to estimate the skeleton's position, so occluded limbs result in weaker tracking. 3. Real-time vs post-processed data: AI motion capture requires post processing, while Rokoko's inertial mocap tools support real-time integrations with all major 3D software. 4. Face and finger capture: finger tracking still requires a solution like the Smartgloves II. 5. Tracking space: inertial tracking is not limited by camera framing, lighting, or environment - the tracking area is as big as your WiFi range. 6. Multiple performers: AI motion capture supports only 1 performer per recording, while Rokoko's inertial mocap tools can capture up to 5 performers at once.
