Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: code generation and editing and handles coding and shell tasks. On balance the feature set — especially code generation and editing — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and open and built on gptme. Multi-step task execution fits neatly into how we already work, and multi-step task execution removed a step we used to do by hand. Less polished than commercial agents, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Code generation and editing just works and open and built on gptme. Capabilities depend on chosen LLM can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
