Overzicht

Is the server compatible with Windows and how do I configure it there?

Yes, on Windows you place the server configuration in the APPDATA path: `APPDATA/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json`. The same uv commands work, but you must also ensure the server has the necessary file permissions to access the Notes database if applicable.

What can the Apple Notes MCP server read and search, and what is it currently unable to handle?

The server can list all notes, retrieve full content of a specific note, and search through notes. It does not support encrypted notes, pinned notes filtering, cloud sync status, attachment retrieval, checklist status, or creating/editing notes.

How do I install and run the Apple Notes MCP server on my Mac?

Install the package with uv: `uvx apple-notes-mcp` or `uv pip install apple-notes-mcp`. Then add the server config to your Claude Desktop config file (e.g., ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json). Finally, grant the server Full Disk Access in System Settings so it can read the Apple Notes SQLite database.
