What limitations does this MCP server have?

Claude Desktop may time out if Perplexity processing takes too long because it currently lacks support for long‑running operations and progress reporting. Future updates could address this, but as of now, timeout is a known issue.

How do I set up mcp-server-perplexity with Claude Desktop?

First install Claude Desktop. Then edit its config file (on macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json; on Windows: APPDATA/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json) to add a "mcpServers" section with a "Perplexity" entry. Specify the command "uvx [mcp server perplexity]" and set the environment variable PERPLEXITY_API_KEY to your API key. After that, restart Claude Desktop to use the server.
