Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: database and authentication integrations and no coding knowledge required to get started. Where it lags: complex or highly custom logic may need manual coding. On balance the feature set — especially live preview and iterative editing — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on chat-based app and website generation, and fast prototyping from idea to working app caught me off guard. Less control than traditional development is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Live preview and iterative editing is exactly what I needed, and handles deployment and backend setup. I do wish complex or highly custom logic may need manual coding, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Chat-based app and website generation is exactly what I needed, and generated code can be inspected and edited. I do wish complex or highly custom logic may need manual coding, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Can I export my code or is the project locked into Lovable?

You can sync your project to GitHub and export the full-stack code, including frontend and backend. This lets you inspect, customize, or move the project outside Lovable if your needs outgrow the platform.

Does Lovable handle hosting, databases, and authentication, or do I set those up separately?

Lovable handles deployment and hosting natively and includes database and authentication integrations, so you can go from idea to a live product without configuring backend infrastructure yourself.
